Swanyalaw Advocates is seeking to recruit skilled and motivated Advocates of the High Court of Kenya to join our dynamic legal practice. The successful candidates will work closely with other advocates on active matters across diverse areas of legal practice, contribute to the firm’s continued growth and success, and uphold the highest standards of legal professionalism and client service. 1. Commercial and Business Development Advocate

  • Advising on business formation, structuring, and operations, including contracts and commercial agreements.
  • Drafting and reviewing business, partnership, M&A, and joint venture agreements.
  • Providing legal guidance on intellectual property, regulatory compliance, tax, and corporate governance matters.
  • Representing clients in commercial disputes and advising on appropriate dispute resolution mechanisms (negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation).
  • Advising on mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, transaction structuring, negotiation, and documentation.
  • Ensuring compliance with company law, competition law, securities regulations, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Develop and implement strategic business development plans to achieve sales targets and drive revenue growth.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify new opportunities and prospective clients.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance data (KPIs) to identify trends and optimize strategies.

2. Conveyancing /Family Advocate

  • Advising on residential, commercial, and industrial property transactions, including sale, purchase and leasing.
  • Conducting due diligence and title investigations, including land searches and compliance checks.
  • Drafting and reviewing sale agreements, leases, tenancy agreements, and transfer documents.
  • Coordinating with surveyors, agents, financial institutions, and government offices to ensure smooth property transfers.
  • Managing financial settlements, including clearance of mortgages, taxes, and encumbrances.
  • Registering property documents and securing title deeds for clients Providing post-transaction support, including resolving disputes or registration issues.
  • Represent clients in family law matters in court and other forums.
  • Provide expert legal advice on family law issues.
  • Keep abreast of developments in family law and related legislation.
  • Experience in ADR is an added advantage.

3. Litigation Advocate

  • Leading and managing complex litigation matters from inception to conclusion.
  • Developing and overseeing case strategy, including pleadings, evidence, and trial preparation.
  • Representing clients before courts, tribunals, and arbitral bodies.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and approving high-level legal documents, pleadings, submissions, and opinions.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior advocates and pupils.
  • Managing and strengthening client relationships, including providing strategic legal advice.
  • Coordinating with external counsel, experts, and consultants where necessary.
  • Ensuring compliance with court timelines, procedural rules, and professional standards.
